Re: What are you growing right now?

Thanks Flo, that's good to know! Sorry allotment 2 has white rot :( I guess that means using allotment 1 for the onion family only?

Re: What are you growing right now?

... It's now time to start the onion and garlic beds for next year. I've just gotten started on clearing some space for autumn planting garlic... I usually grow them in modules before planting out in spring but this year I'm putting them straight in to the ground. A bit unsure about this but worth ...

Re: What are you growing right now?

It's been a good year for chillies hasn't it?! I saw some growing in a patch along the side of a car park this summer, outside! The adjacent restaurant used them, and other veg grown there, on their menu.

Weedo, I had to read twice before realising where you are based!

What are you growing right now?

I realise it's a bit late in the year for this sort of post but I'm curious to see what my fellow Ishers are growing and harvesting now. In my tiny garden right now is a huge archway of runner beans that are finally cropping well now it's cooled down, some big swiss chards, Welsh onions, a few rando...

Thanks Maggie :hugish:
The cutie is 3 now, and his big brother is 10
It's mind boggling to think my eldest was just 5 months old when I first came to Ish!

Re: This year's gluts and failures

Have a look at Real Seeds, they have some very interesting things on there, no F1's at all, and they grow all the stuff and save their own seeds, they test that everything they sell is suitable for UK conditions and have detailed instructions for seed saving, also the Organic Gardening Catalogue th...

Re: Red Spider Mite

Thanks both :) Odsox, that fumigator looks good. I'll do some more reading about it, thanks for that. Digger, I've opened up the greenhouse to let the cold in. The plants in there don't need heat (except the cactus, will bring that in!) so I'm hoping the cooler weather will slow the mites down. I'll...

Red Spider Mite

Hello everyone! I've got a particularly bad infestation of red spider mite in my greenhouse. They're all over the foxgloves, borage, honesty, chard and kale I've got in there. I would bring everything out and let the frost kill off the mites but the chickens would kill off my plants! I've read about...

My sentiments exactly Bonnie :sad11:
My fb feed is already full of examples of hate happening over there, in just one day.

Re: What are you sowing (2016)

I'm tempted to get some cherry tomatoes started off, and some herbs too. My current (flyaway) greenhouse is full of holes now so nothing is staying dry in there. Hopefully be the happy owner of a polycarbonate GH in the next month or two...
