Thanks GA
I have never heard of Signals in our area of Cornwall but that does not mean they are not there.
I will do some digging. It might even be a good idea to do as the chap did in the article and go fishing with some bacon.

Re: Trapping Crayfish in the UK
I would love to find out if there are these critters down here in Cornwall. I would be quite happy to do my bit to reduce the population.
Is there a list of waterways that do have them

Re: Support renewable energy projects!
Are any of those schemes 'Off Grid' or are they all 'Grid Tied'?
I am not a massive fan of grid tied systems. I agree it is better than non renewable energy generation but I would prefer to see more de-centralised, off grid systems that build local resiliency.

Re: ...find books about discussions on self-sufficiency and how to build self-sufficient communities
How to live off grid by Nick Rosen is not a bad book but the title is a bit misleading. Nick travels around the country visiting people who are living the off grid life from millionaires to people with virtually nothing. Quite interesting but not actual information on the nuts and bolts of off grid...

Re: Slow Geodesic Dome build
Yes I printed them off on A4 so I could make notes and sketches etc. I think it ended up costing about £400 in the end but I do have a lot of the plastic left over as I ordered more than I needed. The plans are not a how to on building the dome so you have to do a lot of thinking and beard rubbing b...

Re: Helping our libraries - easily.
What a fantastic idea. My neighbour buys the New Scientist and passes them on to me to read but because I live in a tiny space I don't know where to keep them all. This would be a great solution.
I will talk to the library next time I am in there.

Re: Cob 'barn'?
Cob is a fantastic material and I love the look and feel of cob but it is just too labour intensive for me. I would probably go for straw bail and if you have enough land to go down the field to farm route you could allow a local farmer to use one of your fields for growing wheat in return for the b...

Re: What are you sowing ATM (Autumn)
I normally sow onions in mid August for overwintering but life took over this year and I have only just got them in now. It is pretty mild down here in Cornwall with few frosts plus now we have the dome I have a lot more under cover area for them. Last year I sowed them in modules 3 or 4 to a cell a...

What are you sowing ATM (Autumn)
Hi All Just wondering what other people are sowing now for winter produce or over wintering for an early crop next year. I have just sown about 700 onions. Mostly Sturon but a few Paris earlies, Australian yellowleaf lettuce, Red Ursa Russian kale and some Wizard field beans. I am a bit later than u...
