Re: New potatoes for dinner

Re: Spring?
In spite of the continuing wet weather and everyone pludging round in 10 feet of mud, my climbing rose bush is full of buds and they seem to be coming out over the last few days and the sweet peas intertwining the rose bush is starting to grow and make buds, just very odd a bit like last December wh...

I have never heard of that, but apple sauce with pork is well known, I guess if you have bacon and sausage, it is quite logical really

Re: Anyone growing Satsumas?
I wonder if you could use the satsuma trees from seed as a rootstock and graft other citrus onto it, you could look for scions from other people that way for thornless fruit maybe

Re: alcoholic fruit flies
that is a great tip, they were born in cider vinegar and the other day, in the absence of hard liquor, they took to sitting on my vinegar jug, I may have to make this to get rid of the little drunken feckers once and for all, a great deal of them drowned in some rather nice new world Merlot, the dre...

I grew a tiger nut by accident, it must have come out of the bird feeder and I told the Wizard not to mow near it, but he forgot and chopped its head off, maybe it will come back. I love tiger nuts

alcoholic fruit flies
I seem to have created a colony of alcohol fuelled fruit flies in my house. A few weeks ago, I put some apple pulp in a basin with a plate on top which I intended putting in my lidded bucket to make cider vinegar. Being me, I put the bowl on top of the washing machine and forgot all about it, that i...

Re: Roses from cuttings
hmmm thanks Weedo, well all the cutting I have taken have been taken from the top of the bushes and are what I know are not from the rootstock, so they should be true to what I took, we have lots of wild roses here a county famous for its wild roses, so might just pop outside and try a cheeky graft....
