I made mine 4ft x4ft and 1ft deep put 6ins of cardboard in them ,and filled them with soil, i just topped them up with compost /grass cuttings over the next two years, and now i have 12ins of great topsoil.

Can you not find any mates that can lay there hands on the big plastic water bottles (about 5 gallon )? the ones that fit on the drinkers . thats what i use .

Hi , i once bought 12 ducks 4 weeks old my idea was to fatten them for the freezer, i started feeding them bruised barley as i had plenty feed for my pig everything was fine until an"expert" told me to soak the barley for 24hrs i did this and after a couple of days i noticed the ducks were...

Thanks for the help ,i'll try and see what i can do to darken the nest box , if they had been using the nest box i had thought on making a sloped bottom /roll away , but that means i cant put shavings/hay in the bottom, diet? i think they are well fed ,wheat,layers pellets,rolled oats, + a handfull ...

pullets eating eggs ?????
I have 3 bantam pullets, who have just started to lay , they are kept in a run 6ft x4ft with a 4ft by 2ft6ins house with a nest box on the side ,they only used the nest box once despite me leaving dummy eggs in the nest box , now as i guessed they have started eating the eggs ,despite my best effort...

How long do these burn, though? I would think that a paper log would burn down to ash much quicker than a wood log. I guess if you have enough supplies, you could make plenty of logs, but it seems like you'd be doing a lot of work to keep your fire going. Or am I just missing something? you are cor...

i bought mine on e-bay, i also use 1pint milk cartons with the top cut of and a couple of slots cut in it to let the water squeeze out , i use a g cramp to squeeze them , the more you can squeeze them the better they are , a wee tip is when you are soaking the paper which i do in a fifty gallon drum...

I'm getting 3 bantam pullets on monday, 2 wyndotes and a frizzel x 10 weeks old, so i am looking forward to some fresh eggs next year.
