Re: Gay Marriage

The Quakers, the Unitarians, the Wiccans, and a number of liberal synagogues (and probably a few others that I've forgotten) all actively want to be able to marry gay members, and are currently not legally allowed to. I didn't realise this (that there were so many religious groups waiting to be abl...

Re: I may be opening a can of worms here but...

How about venison or other wild meat? Its free range and often killed with one shot? Stay clear of birds except for maybe pegion and stick to rabbit, venison and boar. I get all my meat from the farmers market or from a good butcher. You can talk to them at farmers markets about their animals and wo...

Re: Oh do stop moaning

Ok, I think I'm down to about one moan a day. It's interesting I'm finding myself looking at things differently, when I'm about to moan about something I'll try and find a positive instead. Is it lifting my mood? Well, actually I'm not sure if its the signs of spring that are doing a better job but ...

Re: Oh do stop moaning

Yep, I was struggling a bit with the moan or complaint. I think for the purposes of this you can just make your own mind up. I'm sure when it comes out you work out what counts. The whole point is just to make you aware of what you do moan about.

For the record I'm on 4.

Re: Oh do stop moaning

Actually, I think the point is that although some people do moan more than others and its to do with how they are wiring their brains. Apparently, just as you can learn things like driving a car or touch typing through repetition so you can learn behaviour. This fits into that camp; by consiously mo...

Re: Oh do stop moaning

Nice one Bill, like it! Mandy, you swap the braclet every time you moan not each day. It make you conscious that you have moaned... and happyhippy, I think that is the whole point of this thing, it makes you less stressed sounds like it might actually be what you need....hmm......have I just given y...

Oh do stop moaning

I happened upon a little experiment last week by a fella called Will Bowen. It seems that he and his expriment made quite a splash in the states some years back. It's to do with complaining. Here is some text from his site . Simply put the bracelet on either wrist and every time you complain switch ...

Re: Cookbook ebooks low sales for a reason?

the digital rights management sucks but i guess you need it... i only ever pay for lovely colourful well designed PDFs rather than the other text-based formats. Sorry but you've hit a nerve here. Its never right to not pay for a book. The average wage for an author - £5000 a year. An average that d...

Cookbook ebooks low sales for a reason?

Been looking at the sales figures for booze for free, pretty healthy which is alway good. However, the ebook sales figures tell a different story. Last count 29, yep just 29. I don't have an e-reader of any kind but I assume that cookbooks (and esp home brewing cook books) don't exactly lend themsel...

Re: Should spell checkers be mandatory ?

Wulf you are right We did have a built in spell checker but it never worked! Well, I'm one of the biggest culprits for misspelt words and the odd grammer mistake. I was disagnosed with dylexia at 28 whilst in my first year at Uni as an undergraduate. I was given a computer to aid my studies and on i...

Re: Asian beauties

Well I get stuff about underfloor heating, sheds and new boilers. When we rented I spent a day trying to find the cheapest kitchen tap as I stood on the landlords for a good couple of months I go ads for bloody taps. Reminding me of my foolishness. Then during the very stressful process of moving ho...

Uk Grape variety for wine on clay soil

Ok not sure if I am having a laugh with this one. I want to plant a grape vine along my fence for making wine. The site will get sun all day (east-west), but the soil is thick clay. I also want to plant at the bottom of a slope then train the vine to go up. The ground does get a little wet, its cert...
