Re: Fight obesity like tobacco
So who did we think should be responsible for children’s diets? Was it the parents, the school, the government or the producers and advertisers of jolly tasty products. Or shall we just hope is goes away?

Re: Where to go?
It is a shame it come to that, I can't believe it is that bad! I suppose I have got used to normal living here. I do remember how difficult it can be though. On our allotments we were able to keep pigs, three of the committee people had a pig. We went on a pig course at a place called pig paradise t...

Re: Where to go?
It’s interesting about Greece, I don’t pretend to know much about the politics of any country, but something is happening there. We (in Bulgaria) are getting quite a few Greeks and experts resettling from there. Perhaps it is because we are an hour or so from the border, close to home for them perha...

Re: Where to go?
Pretty much the same as the riff raff element. I didn’t leave the UK because I hated it, or because I couldn’t find a job. My children are grown up now so I decided to give this a go. It was a funny thing, I was in my allotment one day with one of my daughters and the chap in the next allotment call...

Re: Beer
The stuff which most people worry about is Bisphenol A, which is found in the stiff, usually opaque, water bottles so beloved of campers and hikers. However, the plastic used in those is polycarbonate. Bisphenol A is NOT found in PET and cannot, therefore, leach into anything from it. There is no r...

Perpetual onions
Does anybody know anything about perpetual onions. A very dear friend of mine will be bringing me some out in April and I really want to keep them going. I understand that one peels them off as required? Any information on that one would be gratefully received.

Re: Beer
I brew my own, in terms of keeping the beer, I have been going from bottle to plastic keg for years. I like the idea of the bottles, it feels nice to open a bottle, but the residue can be a bit of a pain, depending on the recipe how lashed I am etc. Last year I tried the pet bottles that Gregorach m...

Re: Fight obesity like tobacco
[quote="MKG"]No amount of public education or allowing totally unqualified people a say in things they don't understand is going to change the reality of the situation. Some people have medical conditions which cause obesity, but the massive (see what I did there?) majority of obese people...

Re: Drawing a UK state pension from abroad
Yes you can, as I said you apply for your pension in the last country you worked in. What happens in theory is that the country that pays gets a percentage from all the other countries you worked in prior to retiring. So if you go back to the UK just before retirement age and either get a job or si...
