Re: Why are 'you' self-sufficient-ish?

Very interesting stories. Now my turn, then: I grew up in a small farm, in a small village, in the wilderness of central France. We used to have a big garden and I was always told to do some weeding during my summer holidays… I hated it! And I always tried to run away in the fields wit...

Re: Fishfight

I can only add to the furor already displayed here. I have signed up and also suggested the site gets translated for the main part in all European language as I think we need to get everybody on board otherwise all the politicians in Brussels will think they have no risk in their own backyard so why...

Re: VAT rise

This thread is becoming more interesting all the time even if it is to hear about some serious hardship. I am not saying that I may have fallen on something that may explain a lot of the differences pointed here between the UK and Spain or France or other places, but my husband bought me a book for ...

Re: Small village rumours

Ignore it GA - it's fairly normal village tittle-tattle. Unfortunately this is so. What you could do is suggest to your "friend" that if people are so sure there's a drug factory there then perhaps they should call the police. If they're not so sure, on the other hand, then they could do ...

Re: Psycho Killer .... Qu'est-ce que c'est ?.........

It sounds so much like a nice idea, but as we are fed the horrors of our society on daily basis, I must admit, I would never hitchhike or take anybody in my car... I am way to wary of the humans I do not know, and unfortunately you just need one of those psychos to be on your path and your life coul...

Re: Hello from northern Sweden =)!

Hello and welcome! My mum used to grow rabbits for food. It is hard work, but it can be a good business. I know in France, rabbit meat has become very popular in the past few years, as this is probably the only farmed meat that has not suffered from food scare (not yet anyway). I wish you good luck ...

Re: Honey Contamination

Why am I not surprised..... There is one thing I do not buy from supermarkets anymore at all and that is honey as most of its goodness has gone in the industrial processes to render the product "free from". Honey is one of the best produce nature has given us to feed us and to protect us a...

Well I have always eaten eggs as I love them and nothing will scare me enough to stop eating them. You have to put a bit of danger in your life. :cooldude:

Re: How clean is enough?

Well I am sure I have read in quite a few places that a full dishwasher uses less water than washing it all by hand. But I suppose washing it all by hand does not use electricity, but there again it uses your time, and you know what they say about time.... So it all counts...

Re: A Decent Annual Salary

I suppose in all this it also depends if you like the job you do. If you earn 50k but you hate your job, you are not going to be happy and if you earn 15k and love your job, you will be happy and the rest falls into place around what you earn. State of mind is probably also a big important thing as ...

We had our left over of bacon and liver casserole with some mushrooms in the stew and some boiled potatoes to go with it. It was just great!
