Slug pellet ban

This has come up on another forum I use and some are looking at it as if it's the end of the world. I get the argument about them being quite voracious but on the whole I think the ban is the right move , maybe glyphosate will be next. With there being a gardener or two on here I thought I see what ...

Re: Pet gripes

And advised or expected to buy and consume or buy not consume and throw away far too much food as well. Still keeps the income for gyms going over January.
Weedo , thanks for pointing out just how wrong I am and just how important those who take it as a civil duty to shovel poop day after day are.

Re: Pet gripes

 My pet gripe when I was a working gardener was often the customers. The one with the deep gravel gets dubbed "the incredible moaning woman" . Generally it goes in one ear and out the other although at times I've had to bite my tongue. A little while ago she was saying that her j...

Re: Pet gripes

My customer with the far too deep gravel on the drive has now decided to turn some of her borders over to gravel and stones. Part of the decision was based on rabbits eating some of the stufff she had planted and part on the notion that it makes maintainence easier. I'm not at all convinced it makes...

Re: Pet gripes

I tend to quite a few gardens as a living or at least as part of it. There are a couple of things I'd class as gripes. Firstly is wire netting or specfically netting around anywhere that needs trimming as it makes it virtually impossible to trim anything without catching ones tools on the wire and d...

Re: Second flowering of peppers.

Thanks odsox that looks promising. Still I suppose if I only get one the size of a cherry tomato I'll class it as a success considering it's already cropped and isn't going to cost anything other than the time to water it.

Re: Second flowering of peppers.

Yes the loss of daylight hours was what has made me wonder if the flowers will amount to anything. I'm not going to provide artificial light other than what they might get from the landing light when that's on as I frankly don't think it's worth it but as they aren't in the way and the window only o...

Re: Second flowering of peppers.

East facing window on the stairs , comfortable enough temperature wise and watering and feeding is no problem so I guess we'll see.

Second flowering of peppers.

This year pretty much every pepper seed I planted grew and I ended up with more plants than space in the greenhouse so put some on the window cills in the house. They've all done well although the plants in the greenhouse did seem to get an attack by some tiny white insects which resulted in me taki...

Re: Phone apps

I think that's what she will have to do. I've asked on other forums too and no one has actually come up with an answer and I'm completely clueless with this sort of thing so it may be a case of just picking one at random so to speak.

Re: Liquorice

Not a big fan of liquorice myself but I can recall a Dutch friend bringing over a bottle of that liquorice vodka. I wasn't too keen on that either , nor most of my other friends and she ended up probably drinking more than she should have. Dark purple vomit I also seem to recall. Going off at a tang...

Phone apps

I personally wouldn't know an app if it jumped out in front of me but would appreciate any help going. My other half has changed her phone from an I phone 5 to an I phone 6s. We have cctv and she was able to access that through an app on her old phone . That app was called "vieweasy v2" . ...

Re: Mattresses

Glad to hear that the majority on here have no problems with a second hand mattress. I always find it funny how some are totally against the idea of second hand goods but then make about turns for things like cars for instance and then have absolutely no problem with sleeping in hotel beds which may...

Re: Weed killing on lawns

I always think clover , white or red , give a lawn a bit of colour and character . A slab of just perfectly green grass might be loved by some but I find it just a tad dull.
