Re: Seats reserved exclusively for men in the House of Lords

I have thought about that. I think some people hold onto, or gain faith because they are scared of there being nothing else. Maybe they've suffered loss in there family and thats the way they deal with it. Death is scary, it scares me too when i think about it. My life ending, or my child's life, my...

Re: Seats reserved exclusively for men in the House of Lords

Why do we have to tippee toe around religion walking on eggshells for fear of offending anyone? I have never singled anyone out calling them stupid. I'v said before it's organized religion i have a problem with, not individual people with their own personal beliefs.

Re: Seats reserved exclusively for men in the House of Lords

To add for OJ, of course not everything on telly it true but documentaries and pop science are becoming more popular and mainstream, for example the various programs with Brian Cox, star gazing live, wonders of the solar system ect ect. These kinds of programs are becoming more popular and they are ...

Re: Seats reserved exclusively for men in the House of Lords

It is a fact that with level of education, especially education in science, the chances of people still accepting religion drastically decreases. Rowan Williams would probably disagree. Some people are just a lost cause. Sounds rather like dismissing people of faith as stupid to me. Rowan Williams ...

Re: Seats reserved exclusively for men in the House of Lords

I have no problem with peoples personal belief, it's organised religion that i hate. You can believe whatever you like but i don't want it forced upon me and i don't want bishops in the house of lords having their say and effecting the way society is run. The people who are elected into the house of...

Re: Horse Burgers anyone?

I defiantly want to know that what im buying and eating is what is says it is. However, wither its horse, cow, sheep, pig or whatever i don't really care, as long as it's good quality and tastes good. Ideally i want to only eat meat we can produce ourselves and not have to buy it. Certainly here in ...

Re: Seats reserved exclusively for men in the House of Lords

OK,Fair enough Demi,so where do you stand on Quakers? The oats or the pacifists? The world will not fall apart without faith. Yes it will. Pretty much every value system is underpinned by some form of faith. In money, in the basic goodness of human nature, in science, in the notion of the sun risin...

Re: Seats reserved exclusively for men in the House of Lords

If you make the assumption that religions are innately evil and bad then I can fully understand not wanting it to be involved in politics. However I would argue that religion is innately GOOD, with goodness at it's core, and based on that assumption having religion in politics can be positive. Some...

Re: Potty pause ( Elimination Communication )

UPDATE: So my son went though months of refusing to sit on the potty and the only way i could get him to pee/poo was to hold him over the toilet or the ground outside so he could go. He would sometimes sit on the insert seat for the big toilet but was usually protesting against that too. So i ended ...

Re: Seats reserved exclusively for men in the House of Lords

Demi - what you need to understand is that personal religious belief influences personal political belief. The two can not be separated. Saying that religion is wrong and should not be allowed to influence society is meaningless. Where freedom of belief is permitted (and frankly even where it isn't...

Re: Making pasta

I'v done some reading online and i also have instructions on how to make them in some of my self sufficient books. I think it is something we will definitely make in the future. We have plans to renovate/ build the other wee house at the orchard so we can live and work there in the summer and i was ...

Re: weight loss 2013

Also making veggy burgers to go with it from mung beans which iv not made before from mung beans so i hope it works out. I like experimenting :) My fast day hasn't worked again as i ate some pasta for lun...
