Insulating a conservatory
Hi Could any builderish type people give me some advice please? I have a fairly standard PVCu conservatory. It's south facing with one solid wall against the living room, another wall which is almost all made up of the French doors into the dining room. The third wall is double glazed PVCu windows a...

Re: 101 ways to improve my memory - PLEASE
Thanks everyone. I gave up gluten about 8 months ago and I'll never go back to eating it. My whole life has changed. I'll post the details in another thread. The only thing that hasn't got better is my memory. But I gather it takes a long time as I have to wait for my gut to recover before I start t...

Re: 101 ways to improve my memory - PLEASE
Just resurrecting this thread to say I now think I know what's been causing my memory problems. I diagnosed myself as being gluten intolerant earlier this year. I've been avoiding gluten since and now know that my diagnosis is correct. I've found out that gluten intolerance can lead to memory loss, ...

Re: Leg shave cat
Hi
Every time one of my cats has had an operation of any sort, they've had a shaved leg. I think it's where they put the anaesthetic.

Re: Transporting a greenhouse
I heard a rumour today that there may be a greenhouse free to anyone who can take it away near Highworth in Wiltshire. Not sure how big, possibly about 6ft by 9ft or maybe a bit bigger. Reasonable condition, could certainly be tidied up. PM me for more details.

Re: What Is For Tea?
It was the remains of yesterday's bean casserole for me. Made in the slow cooker, as are most meals these days. Put on the timer there's no chance of my forgetting it and letting it burn.

Re: chest freezer
I have an old upright freezer that I use as a cupboard in my shed. The drawers are great for storing all sorts of gardening odds and ends. Appreciate it's probably leaked all sorts of nasties into the environment by now but it was so old when I inherited it that I suspect the gasses had all gone by ...

Re: This year's gluts and failures
Failures this year were mulberry, quince and plums. Other soft fruit didn't do too well either. I blame the weather in the spring. Another failure was the cucumber I bought as a young plant at a charity sale only for it to turn out as a courgette. Pumpkins have done well, potatoes were ok, beetroot ...

Re: Someone say something
Sorry, I'm one of those former regular posters that hasn't been around for a while. In my case it's because I've been spending lots of time doing. I extended my garden 18 months ago and now have a lovely big vegetable patch that takes up most of my spare time. I've also found a new hobby called zent...

Re: Improving Clay Soil
Good luck Bonnie. Ive basically given up trying to improve my extremely heavy clay soil which is full of stones and am doing as DND suggested and putting mulch over cardboard to create raised beds.

Re: Perfumed flowers to attract bees
Hi. I know you're sorted for this year - and very good they look too. I've got sweet peas in my greenhouse. I know they're not the compact plant you were looking for but they don't take up much space if you tie them up the side and they do smell very strongly.

Hi Kathy
Welcome back and congratulations/good luck (I'm not sure what is the most appropriate greeting). You're extremely brave and I do hope it all goes well for you.

Re: Plan a Veg Patch
Are the wild birds a problem because they eat the chicken food? I think so but also they can pass on diseases. Having said that, the robin is often in my chicken run and I don't think he's ever passed anything on to my lot. Have you moved recently then Zoe? Are you working for the National Trust no...
