Re: Not Quittin' Smoking
I would start with a 'white' portion of Snus MMM as these are drier - i think you will prefer these if you were to try it. 'Stark' means strong... so if you get a stark portion it has a high nicotine strength (not like those naff nicotine losenges!) ;-)

Re: Not Quittin' Smoking
Update for MMM, Snus is also available in mini portions... speaking with one of these in is no problem so these are best at social functions etc Northerner do a purified version at 6mg which is strong (a 'stark') for a mini portion. And the good thing is these are purified tobacco so contain even less nitrosamines. The citrus and menthol is the one i would go for.

Re: Not Quittin' Smoking
Ok, but now i know a bit more i recommend a 'sterk' which is strong... not a normal or an extra sterk. I'd say a sterk or stark is about the strength you'd need. So maybe get a few tins of Skruf Stark or General Stark... anything with stark in the name. Then there's the ones with the long shaped tea bags that will be more discrete. There's a good chart here...
http://www.snusworldwide.com/us/buy-snus.aspx
So pick one around 13mg in strength which would make it a stark/sterk ie. strong (as you're used to cigarettes)
And a 'long' potion would be useful for times when you want to be discrete.
And go for portion colour 'white'.

It's the only way to successfully stop smoking but still enjoy tobacco, in my opinion.nyghtowl wrote:Hrm... might try that! ty!

My Nan used to sniff snuff, and it's addictive. After all, it's ground tobacco. She used to get really irritable if she ran out, so I wouldn't say it's useful if you want to stop smoking, you'd be trading one addiction for another.

I agree, snuff is not very good. Snus however is excellent! I like this article on smoking/tobacco:Imanairsign wrote:southeast-isher wrote:Has any smokers amongst us ever taken (nasal) snuff? It seems the only way to cut down if you are a heavy smoker who doesn't want to quit.

And yeah you'd be trading one addiction for another. That's trading one smelly nasty addiction for one that's 90% safer! Go figure.

Re: Not Quittin' Smoking
Nicotine patches and other nicotine replacement therapy do not contain the MAOIs that we love in tobacco - that for me is why i find them so ineffective.

Furthermore, electronic cigarettes DO NOT currently contain MAOIs which is why, in my opinion, they also are so ineffective.
