The usual stuff, leeks, purple sprouting broccoli, late and early, black kale and in an unexpected turn of events, a load of of cabbage plants turned into cauliflowers, mainly due to me losing labels to all the brassicas and just planting a selection of everything I had grown. I have been selling salad bags once a week since the end of March as well as Italian parsley, oregano, thyme, sage, have to get myself into gear to plant out the new lettuce seedling and prepare some more beds for salads, since I have created an insatiable salad monster in my village. The Latah tomatoes have just started flowering in the tunnel and we had our first new potatoes in the week, few more for dinner tonight, and unusually for Ireland, it hasn't rained for a number of days.

Well in June I had a spell where the allotment looked productive and tidy.

But now my hedges have grown and the flowers under the fruit trees have all gone to seed. So ... I have started by clearing under the fruit trees which makes the place look tidy. I have all the hedges to cut again! which is a long job and ....

1. the peas in the ground need picking,
2. the peas in the tubs need staking,
3. the broad beans aren't quite ready,
4. the onions are mostly drying off,
5. the garlic got rust and is a crumby crop but the elephant garlic is fine,
6. the carrots have carrot fly I fear,
7. the first of the marrows and courgettes are coming along on the old compost heap,
8. the runner beans are late but catching up because I had to replant (started the first lot too early),
9. the winter cauliflowers are now where the garlic of both sorts was.

And when I was going to go along this afternoon down came the rain. Since you all asked.

My garlic also got the rust. I think I'll take a break from growing it for a few years
