One Step Closer

Post: # 289567Post Weedo »

I have previously noted that I am not ISHish - yet, way too busy and too much time travelling to be able to give it the time; although we do try to make our land use as sustainable and self contained as possible. BUT

Today I officially changed work hours from 5 days to 4 days per week (all 3 day weekends from now on) and will go to 3 days in 12 months or so - I have also negotiated a role change that will see me phasing out much of the higher level while mentoring a replacement.

One step closer to retirement and one step closer to trying to get ISH.

Feeling good!

Great stuff, Weedo. Enjoy your extra day. I'm not sure you'll be able to call it retirement though - I've never worked so hard as I do since I stopped "work".

You're a time traveller
Now that's quite a skill, I can only manage travelling to the future .. one day at a time.

Good luck on semi-retirement

 Same here.

Sounds like you are lucky you can arrange your job situation to your needs and wants... For me, it's - accept any job anybody offers you if you want to survive. Half the time I'm not working (and drowning in depression, which makes me unfit to do anything much), and the other half I'm doing some kind of work (for very little money) which is not very inspiring, but at least gets me out of the house. At the moment, I'm working, so life is good. As good as it gets. I wouldn't want to retire; no more reason to get up - except to feed the cat, of course!

Thanks folks
Unlike Ina & Odsox who travel forward a day at a time, it seems that I always travel backwards which is why I am phasing out. If I really could arrange my work and fiancials that way I want, I would have retired yesterday!

Retirement for me does not mean stopping work, there is still the farm to run, but does mean I will have time to do the things I choose to rather than what I have to - and to do them properly instead of half-jobs because there is not time.
