In 1989 I bought a five acre plot of land in eastern Ontario, Canada. Picked it up for $8500 and spent about fifty grand putting up a boxy barn like house. I grew up in the city, moved to the country from a 6000 Sq. Ft. wear house space, and my house reflects that. Huge vaulted ceilings, catwalks very Urban! We are now in the process of modernizing the place, adding more buildings, a guest house and an arts studio, as well as managing the day to day needs of a small farm! With our market garden, which is growing by about 5000 sq. ft. a year, and our pear and apple orchards we manage to feed our three Tamworth pigs, 15 Heritage chickens and ourselves! We even manage to put up enough food to cover a substantial amount of our winter needs as well. http://www.splitzvillefarm.com works hand in hand with our other enterprise, which came about after I worked in Honduras teaching diving. http://www.evergreenroatan.com sells solar power systems to the Bay Islands of Honduras, check out our Blog at Howtogogreen, look for us on Google we are #2!
I just wanted to add that this site is fantastic!

If you know of a way to help save our planet, even just a small part of it put it here. Also if you want to ask how to help, or even if you want to promote your environmental organisation. All goes here.
