First Dwarf beans in on Sunday, more capsicum and corgette plants in (seed failed in heat) First early tomatoes in under cover, all heritage varieties so seed saving a possibility (Grosse lisse, Mortgage lifter and tiny tom). Picked the last 2 OK cabbages, the rest and the cauli's bolting so they will be converted to eggs and worm poo.

The chickens killed off my chard :( Nevermind! Next season they won't get it!

Nothing new in at this stage; Tomatoes and capsicums in full production (under shade now) Zuchinis finished by heat; beans a no show due to virus infected seed. Strawbs in the final stages, rhubarb cropping well . No greens at this time of year (they cant stand the 35 - 40+ degree heat)

Nuffink being grown at the moment as I'm told that gardening on a cracked fibula in the right leg is not to be done. There is still stuff to pick on the allotment mind if I can find a good minion. Last weekend I did and things like parsnips, sprouts, turnip went home.

How did you manage a cracked fibula, Flo? I hope it's mending well.

No idea how I did it but if I did I would have avoided it.

Thing is that end of February looks to be the earliest it will be a good leg again.

Sorry to hear that Flo, not the sort of thing anyone wants let alone an active person like yourself.
The only good ? thing is it happened when it did, and you should be fit and raring to go when the main sowing season starts.
Assuming of course that you dug your allotments back in the autumn

Yeah funny you should say that; the winter digging is done except where we are still clearing the last bits. No sweat.

don't think I could handle your snow and ice; at least not consistently. Probably easier to keep warm than to keep cool though. 43c on the verandah yesterday and forecast to reach 45c + in the next two days. Strangely most of the herbs (growing in full sun) are loving the heat - except the parlseys which gave up the ghost a few days ago. So, nothing doing for me in the veg garden other than keeping toms etc. going and looking after tree seedings in pots until end March I think.

We've not had snow yet this season... Keep fingers crossed it stays that way! Had a few days below zero, and that's good, needed for black currants etc. Snow drops are out in full force.

My house rarely is above 15 degree, and mostly below. In summer I sometimes get above 20, and then it gets uncomfortable...
