problems with pots

Forgive my ignorance as I am still new to this just dug up my first pots from the allotment....red skins,,,however a few of them have quite a few warty like lumps on them....can anyone please enlighten me as to what they are...

Could it be scab? Google it, and see if your warts match! (I could've put that better i'm sure.... :iconbiggrin: )

Have looked it up and it could be although out of 30 plus that I dug up today only a handful were effected.....

It does sound like scab. Not a problem, shouldn't stop them keeping but you'll want to peel them before cooking.

At our last house, we had very sandy soil with not much humus in it. The potatoes were all affected by scab, some more seriously than others. Those that were badlyt affected, we peeled; the others we just scrubbed the scabby bits off with a stiff brush and used as normal.

Thanks for the advice though I have spoken to my mother and I gave her my left over seed pots which she put in potatoes pots with fresh shop bought compost and has the same problem........would this still be scab as I thought scab was something in the soil........
