Velocity cabbage - where are you???
Just reading Lawrence Hills Fighting Like the Flowers again. He mentions Velocity cabbage sowing to eating in 10 weeks, I have tried to Doogle this, haven't found anything on it, has anyone heard of this, is it extinct now, anyone got any seeds or knows where I could get hold of some, would like to try it

No luck either, maybe heritage seeds from membership of distribution list such as Cottage Garden Society or Hardy Plant Soc.
According to the Catholic herald March 1953
"The early cabbage Velocity can be sown about now, to give fresh, tender green for those who like their cabbages raw. eaten as lettuce. It is particularly sweet, crisp, eating."
Golden acre 62 days seeds widely available
http://smallfarmersjournal.com/cabbage/ refers to Early Jersey Wakefield which matures in 64 days. Found seeds on am&zon
http://harvesttotable.com/2009/02/quick ... ble_varie/ also refers to Early Jersey and Golden acre, also Charmant (52 days); Earliana (60 days); & Ruby Ball (70).

Thanks for the trouble you've gone to Marshlander, I like looking for old or unusual varieties, will give some of these a go, would still like to find the elusive Velocity though

this deserves to be grown only for its name, if nothing else.
