Dried Beans

Post: # 291717Post Odsox »

I spotted these Beefy Resilient Grex beans whilst looking for something else and bought a packet on one of those spur of the moment impulses.
I'm rather pleased I did as I planted them in the tunnel on a rather late 22nd of May and have now harvested probably half of them.
I have just set 8 of each colour to soak and I will cook them up for a tasting tomorrow morning. If one tastes better than the rest I will grow that one, but if they all taste pretty much the same I will grow them all again.
I hope they all taste similar as multi-coloured beans as a vegetable would look good, although they will probably lose their colour in the cooking process.
The next thing to do is germinate a selection and see how they grow in my hydroponics, that would be very useful as one pipe is very often empty during summer.

A visual treat, at least. I'd be interested in the taste - "beefy" seems an odd description (unless they literally taste like beef).
I envy your hydroponics rig - the luxury of stand-up gardening! Maybe I should have gone into comedy.

They look amazing - all from the same packet of seeds? The black one's look like turtle beans - my favourite.
