Chicken house plans

Post: # 146232Post englishsid »

Hi,

Anyone have a good set of plans for a home-made chicken house?

I saw the one in the book and wondered if these are available online (to share with my dad)

Or if anyone else has any others to share?

Thanks,
Dave

Try googling chicken house plans. I found several sets when I did it. Unfortunatley, I didn't save them or I'd have shared them. Most seemed quite a lot bigger than I needed as I was only looking for plans for a small house for my two bantams. I will have to scale a set down I think.

Cheers
Zoe

There are some nicely produced chicken house plans for download at http://www.thechickenark.com which include a small chicken ark (the sort with a roosting/nesting space one end rather than above the run), a simple rectangular hen house and run, plus a palatial chicken house with pitched roof, attached run and nest boxes down each side.

Hope one of them is right for you. I can't see a smiley with hammer and nails...

Best of luck
Maryma

The pick of the bunch is definantly "Building a Chicken Coop" by Bill Keene. It has 3 sets of chicken house plans plus a book with heaps of information. I've got a bit of a review of it on my blog.

Try http://buildingachickencoop.co.uk. There's some very good plans for three different types of chicken coops on this site, with reviews and other helpful information.

When you buy Building a Chicken Coop it doesn't just come with the plans - it has loads of information on where to site a chicken coop, how to keep it clean, plus feeding and other aspects of keeping chickens.

We're going to build the chicken ark this weekend - will post up the results.

When I was researching I found this site: http://www.buildchickencoopz.com/ It helps you choose the location, size needed, etc, and has a great ebook that has plenty of pictures and step by step instructions. I just purchased it and read through about half.

I found another one at this site: http://www.chickenshedfloral.com/ , the plans seem to be professionally designed. The book can be downloaded and printed out right away.

Here is a new chicken coop site that has some good chicken coop plans and DIY information. Not a clean as some of the sites you have listed but still a great resource.
