Ads at the top - keywords

Post: # 13259Post Andy Hamilton »

Does anyone notice the ads at the top changing? They run on keywords meaning the page gets scanned and the appropriate ad gets put in the top. I had to get rid of them on the carrier bag article as they were all for polythene bags

The keywords for this post are probally keywords I wonder if they will pick up on the keywords that I write.

Nope not picked up on the keywords. Perhaps I have got it wrong, I was sure that was how it worked.

As far as I understand it, GoogleAds are pay-per-click ads. The advertiser submits his advertisement into Google and opens an account. The advertiser supplies the 'key words' they are interested in and then Google will place them accordingly. If you look down the side of the results pages on Google you will see these ads also. The amount to pay per click varies according to how popular the words searched for are likely to be. Money only comes off the account if the person actually enters the site, so its quite a good may of advertising as many people see the ad but don't actually look further, or may take your details and then look later! As a web person, my husband knows a lot more about how you set up the account, choose your words, submit your ad etc. than I do - my knowledge is strictly limited to earwigging when he's been talking to people.
