Hello :-) Long time lurker

Post: # 264585Post GreenlvrnUt »

Just thought I would pop out from under my shell and say hi.

I'm a stay at home mum to 3 going on 4 children (or 4 going on 5 if you count the hubby). I'm just starting out on my path in being selfsuffcient (ish). I intend on growing my own fruit and vegetable, starting with the basics because I'm not very good at keeping plants alive. I manage with small human beings but plants stump me completely so this is going to be quite a challenge.

My other interests include hill walking, tree's, reading, WOW, learning new ways to be eco and spending time with my family.

See you all around

Welcome! And good luck in your quest to learn how to keep plants alive.

(fortunately in the garden plants are somewhat selfsufficient-ish; more so than tiny humans, I believe)

Hi there and welcome
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Hi :) I was always rubbish with potted plants, but managed to get my first indoor tomatoes last year! Just struggling with keeping the outside ones alive with all the slugs.

How old are the kids? If you can get them to help it's quite nice to grow some of the simpler ones together and take it from there.

Thanks for the more welcomes, just moved and finally have the internet back!

The landlord has left me a potted plant in the kitchen 0.o ... I really hope it lives lol and I hope you are right about the children!

Kids are 8,3 and 1..so the two oldest can help. They are very excited. We haven't done much in the garden so far except distinguish what kind of red berry tree's we have. One is Holly the other is Honeysuckle (which I originally thought was cranberry *facepalm*)

You live and learn I guess. Alarmingly mushrooms are growing on my lawn..small thin ones. My initial reaction was to get rid due to the children (I worry my son may eat these without thinking, as with the red berrys) so they were destroyed but if they grow back I will try to identify the type and whether they are useful or not.

:-)
