Hello from Ian! Looking to write on self sufficent living

Post: # 279262Post Ian138 »

Hello!

My name is Ian Critchley and I write. I write for various publications including LouderThanWar (one of the UKs largest punk/alternative music zines), The Backroom, and Booked Mag (which is distributed to high schools across the country).

I was looking for some information and advice. My plan is to write a book on self-sufficient living by totally immersing myself in a community for a period of time (depending on how long it takes to gather enough material). The larger the community, the better. I would be willing to test this on a smaller scale (a self-sufficient co-habitated building, for example) and write an introductory article for a publication, but my main goal is to tackle this on a larger scale.

I am based in Manchester, but willing to travel any distance if it feels right. If there is anyone who runs/lives within a community and would be interested in allowing me to live, work, and write about self-sufficient life that would be great. Otherwise any information/contact details you could pass on would also help immensely.

Thank you all very much!

Have you looked at Diggers and Dreamers, that may be of interest.

Hello Ian, have you tried signing up for WWOOFers (Willing workers on organic farms). Loads of communities are on it. My advice would be to head down to the South West, most of them seem to be down here!
Good luck with the book.
