update october 2008

have some interesting news to share with you all.

i have decided to give up my allotment.

the reasons are -
time, i work nights and have very little time to work on the plot.
distance, the allotments are a fair walk away.
crops, i only want to grow green veg and you can't grow the same veg all year round.

i will be collecting my bits fro the allotments on thursday morning after work, and someone else wil be taking over the plot. i do not really feel sorry at all that i am not going to have the plot because -

i proposed to my girlfriend and she said yes! we are to be married in december 2009!
i now live with my fiancée, we have a nice garden the same size as my old plot!

i will be working hard in the garden to grow the things i like and as it is right outside my door i feel i will have the time to cope, as there is no travel.

Awwwwww! Congratulations both on your engagement and your new lovely garden right outside your door! Much better to be able to grow your veg at home anyway so here's to a great future in more ways than one!

Congratulations on getting engaged.

Sounds like things are coming together nicely. I gave up a plot a few years ago because it was a car ride away. It was just too much effort just to go and do a bit of weeding/watering and having to carry everything back and forth each time. Much better in your own back garden when you can do a bit, have a cup of tea, do a bit, have a cup of tea..... or is that just me.

I wouldn't worry about the negatives too much especially if you have a decent sized garden to grow stuff in, congrats on your engagement

i am just back from the allotment having collected my bits and bobs.
i have to be honest i dont feel bad or have any regrets at all, i thought i may have some, but no i have none.

...now to get going on the garden!

Hi all.

Am now on my 3 year of married life! And have a beautiful son.

Still happy in the garden and my son loves helping, we planted potatoes, tomatoes, sunflowers and loads if herbs etc.

Where we live now we rent but am amazed at what you can grow in pots, think next spring we will be busy planting again!

Just thought I would give you all an update, hope your all happy and have a great 2013!

Ohhhh yes nearly forgot, now live in a nice bungalo and have a nice flat garden to put all my pots in, may try some new crops this year.

Update

My wife sadly passed away on the 17 april, after battling a long illness.

well, my son and I now own a nice house and have a 100 foot garden about 22 foot wide, we have been here a year and now that the house has been completely finished from top to bottom, I am going to focus on the garden more.
we have already planted some apple, pear, plum and olive trees, along with oak, ash, maple. the oak being grown from acorns we picked last year :)

I will be using the front 20 feet of the garden as a veg plot, I will be starting the deturfing process this week!

if people are interested I will post updates of our progress.

the olive tree was reduced item in the garden centre :) only a few quid, thought I would give it a go, its growing already!

Hi Chris, good to hear from you. You've been in the house only a year and completely finished the work you wanted to do on it? That's impressive! I like the sound of your garden, and I love to hear about all those trees you're growing, especially the oak trees from acorns
