sloe gin

Post: # 289953Post WILDBREW »

Sloe Gin
ingredients
450g / sloes.
225g/ sugar.
1lt / gin.
I make sloe gin most years and just mix a few sloes with sugar and gin. I've just made a new batch and I've made a note of exactly how I did it.
Here's how. Prick each sloe with a fork, I tried without doing this one year and the flavour doesn't come out as well.
Put the sloes into a large sterilised jar.
Pour in the sugar and the gin, seal tightly and shake well.
Store in a cool, dark cupboard and shake every other day for a week. Then shake once a week for at least two months.
Strain the sloe gin through muslin into a sterilised bottle.

Leave until Xmas...Hooray! :drunken:

I love sloe gin. Unfortunately. due to the sugar content, it's off of our current list of Christmas booze.

I have, however, compiled a list of cocktails that fit into our low carb diet (in moderation of course:drunken: )
