It's certainly being a bit flakey at the moment. A while ago I could only post in the Practice section, even when I was clearly logged in. But it's letting me post here, too, for now.

Seems to be. I've found that not only do you need forum with an small f, but you also need the / after it, too, otherwise you get redirected to the old place.

Posts should be safe here. I think posting is now disabled in the old forum. For a while the two were running alongside each other. This confused me so much that I posted a message in each (in Practice & Deleted) just saying whether it was the old or the new. For a while that was the only difference between them.

Hooray - a working forum.

Shiney, I've just tried to PM you, and also got the Debug Mode message. But the message is in my Outbox, which may mean that it's in your Inbox afterall. Yesterday I ended up posting a dozen identical messages to the forum because it kept saying 'try again later'. Oops!

Did you not all receive this email from Andy???????:

Hello

We have out grown the server that we are currently hosted on. In basic terms this means that the computer that all the data that runs this site is full up. We also have a better deal with our new hosting company, this means we have much more memory to play with and as such hope to add more features to the site.

The move means there will be some downtime possibly up to three days. You can use the temporary forum in the meantime which can be found here - http://selfsufficientish.tv/phpBB2/index.php to keep in touch with your friends from this forum.

Please do not post anything on the fourm on reciept of this email as I am now going to back up the database from this moment on anything posted on the forum from this moment will end up being lost. I will email again when it is back up and running and if there are any problems or delays I will inform you on the above mentioned forum.

Ok folks wish me luch and have a happy Easter. Lets hope this gives you an opportunity to get out in the garden/alltoment/farm/patio this easter.

Forgive my confusion. I've had my nose in many books lately.

Is the address for the new forum different?
When I tried to link to the (presumably new) forum from the .com website it used a capital F in "forum" as opposed to the f here. But then it could not find tha page.

I thought maybe this already was the forum switched on to the new server and looking exactly like the old forum :)

I didn't get the email message either.

So, where do I go from here?

Yep the large F does not seem to work, I really do not know why. Still the same forum and same address. It is all a bit confusing really, bit the move is over and it appears that apart from the F business it is all working ok.

The server is probably Unix-based, which means it is case sensitive, making ./forum/ a different place to ./Forum/. I generally keep all my file and directory names in lower case, which avoids confusion over which one to use.

So, this is it. Here I am. This is the "new" forum. (?)
That's what I assumed. But was confused about peoples messages trying to log into the New forum with no success, but then posting about it here.

Thanks for all the work Andy.
Looks good as old.

After seeing all the error messages that I kept getting it was indeed joyful to see the old forum up again.

Yep wulf, we have moved from a windows server to unix one, apparently php is a lot more stable so we should not get any of the problems that we had in the past. Also now we are in control of everything that goes on the server so the issues of it slowing down should be resolved to. Ah, a brave new server  So that is why there is this F problem. - thanks for the PM BTW hopefully we can work together to get it rectified.

Right that is the F problem fix too now, simply redirected the page to the small f forum.

Well, we can't have any of those nasty f-words!!!

Thanks for all the hard work. I just wish I'd used the "time off" more effectively... But that is entirely a problem of my own making.
