Wild Photo Competiton win The Wild Life or Wild Drugs

The theme for our latest Competition is "Wild" to win a copy of The Wild life by John Lewis-Stempel or a signed copy of Wild Drugs By Zoe Hawes. Simply post below your picture. Only two per entrant please so make them count! Must be your original work and not messed about with too much on photoshop. The picture should depetict something wild and the winner will get the first choice of which book they might want and 2nd place will get whatever is left.

We will whittle down the entries to 5 photos and then these will be voted for by you. Closing date for all entries is 31st July - so you should have plenty of time to get snapping! Winners will be notified by PM and you must be a member to enter. All entries must be posted below.
Oh and if you have a picture of a person in the photo you should get their permisson.

Best of luck!

I have my own copy of both books and they have already become pretty treasured items - below is a short review of each of them.

The Wild Life by John Lewis-Stempel

I take people on wild food walks, introducing them to the plants around them and letting them know their culinary uses. I know I shall be quoting from this book and I will be trying out some of the recipes too.

It was not at all what I expected, seeing the front cover and I guess carrying a prejudice about men in tweed who carry guns and live in the country. I was glad to have this prejudice shattered.

We might talk about our hunter gatherer ancestors and I doubt many of us really try to engage with what that really means, this book helps us to connect with our food and the beauty and brutality that is our surroundings and what shaped us as homosapians. It is a book who's stories will stay with me and I am thankful it was written, I will not be lending it out!

and not forgetting ......

Wild Drugs By Zoe Hawes

Some foraging books have rubbish pictures but good content, some have really good pictures but no real substance. This book is different it has it all! It covers when to look for plants, has superb photos of what they look like, loads of folklore which helps give a story to remember plants by, size of plants so you know what to look for, lookalikes so you know what not to look for and where the plants grow. As a person who takes people on wild plant identification walks this book could put me out of a job!
Everyone gets ill and everyone gives a fortune to drug companies, don't bother and get this book instead. I could not reccomend this book any more.

EDITED TO ADD - must be photos from this year taken by the person submitting them!

I would like to suggest that it's not a photo that was submitted into last year's Wild competition, but ultimately it is up to Andy to decide. Will give him a nudge.
