BIOCOIL

I have seen in the paper a couple of weeks ago a study of some guy living underwater using a biocoil to grow algae for consumption.
I have looked about on the net and found some basic pics of what to do but with no biological knowlegde at all i wonder how it would be safe to eat/drink.
Has anyone made one?
I gave up on an allotment due to vandals and think this would be a great way to suplement my average diet in the saftey of my home.
I already grow masses of algae in my fish tanks but not adventurous enough to have a nibble. Although the 20 mbuna love it!!!!!!!

wow thanks for the links.
I am waiting for advise from a biologist at a local school as to if it would be safe to eat and the test tube idea would be great to fit on the windowsil at home. And also maybe a good project for the school too.
Thanks for the replies will post up what i have with pics of final project , although still looking aroud for more ideas on design.
cheers me dears

hi, ive just started looking at biocoils and would like to grow algae as food for the family in my garden.
any suggestions for advice appreciated. I have found a school project on the net over 7 years developing such a thing, but not commercially working as yet.

I don't think I'd want to eat it myself, bit I could see using it as part of a food chain for aquaculture.
