My oranges have freckles!

Post: # 17523Post Boots »

My smallest orange tree has half grown fruit on it, and they have coloured freckles. What I thought were small white spots are actually tiny red, yellow and white spots...

Whassat then?

Was thinking I would try a soap spray... can anyone suggest a tried and true?

Not that I can offer an explanation... Despite progressing global warming, oranges still don't grow in Scotland. But freckles aren't uncommon in people with sensitive skin here - suntan lotion? Hat with a wide brim for each orange?

possibly scale, in which case an oil spray would be best, perhaps a home made vegetable oil emulsion?

Almost suntan lotion!

Do you know what causes scale, Nev?

Scale is an insect Ina, and they are spread by ants so it is a perst not a disease. The oil clogs their breathing holes and they die!

Yes, Oleanders and Bay - same family. But they don't have freckles!
