Fee fairy - ericaceous compost is for acid loving plants, so if your garden soil isn't acid, you will have to dig a big pit, line it with something, put loads of ericaceous soil in it, then plant your lychee into that. Then you'll have to feed it with a special fertiliser for acid loving plants.

It might be easier to keep it in a pot!
