Good day =)

Looking forward to sharing these pictures and hopefully we will all learn a little bit more from the ID's we get.

Ok, I live on the Isle of Wight and all of these have been taken today 13/04/2015
I know what at least two of the pictures are of, the rest although beautiful I do not know, so let's ID these together :grouphug: .

Sweet

Above, we have Lords-and-Ladies (Arum Lilly (( Arum maculatum)) ) Poisonous
All parts of the plant produce an acrid, burning juice, which is a serious irritant both internally and externally.
Although if the roots are well baked it becomes completely harmless, these roots were once in demand in this country (UK)
and it used to be known as Portland sago. The ground root powder (grind after baking) used to be used like salep or as
a substitute for arrowroot. :study:

Above is the Stinging Nettle (Urtica dioica)
Stinging nettles are one of the most abundant of all edible wild plants, and one of the most useful!
The coarse fibres from the stalks have historically been used in the production of cloth as well as the leaves for food.
Can be used as a substitute for kail. Nettles should not be picked after the beginning of June for eating, in high summer the
leaves become coarse in texture, bitter and laxative. The best time for them used as a food are when the shoots are young
and no more than 20cm high.
Before cooking, wash well. They can be used in numerous ways, as a straight vegetable boil them in a closed pan for 4mins.
Strain the water off, add a large knob of butter and plenty of seasoning (adding a onion if you choose to), then simmer for a further five mins, turning and mashing all the while. The resulting purée is interestingly fluffy in texture, but rather insipid - don't expect it to taste like spinich. Nettle Purée can be spread on toast and goes nicely with an egg on top. Or of course nettles go well in soup as in nettle soup :thumbright: or be inventive there are many more recipes online as well if you feel the need to utilize them.

Ok, now for the numerous plants, trees, herbs ?, I cannot identify.
Going to list these numerically so it makes it easy for identification purposes.

And I guess that will do for today, I will keep this running throughout the year.
By the end of the year we should have alot of edibles and identified not edibles, which will be able to be used as a guide
by all :thumbright: that is the goal anyway, so can you ID any of the numbered pictures? :hugish:
