So...I'm getting a Kindle quite soon. Very excited about it!

I've got a chinese copy ebook reader but it's not e-ink, so I'm getting the kindle to play with it (and to get the free amazon books).

Any recommendations?

Its very good, I have one for a few months, beats the cost of postage out here. The only thing I found is that while you can get all the latest story books, anything to do with anything slightly specialised is a bit more difficult. Bear in mind that it is e ink, for some reason I was supprised when I needed the light on to read it in the living room at night lol.

Keep an eye on Amazon for freebies - I've got loads of really old recipe/gardening/herbalism books for £0.00! And look on Project Gutenburg for novels and/or poetry. I got Heidi (my daughter "inherited" by beautiful book :( ) and a few other out of copyright books. There's some amazing stuff.

One word on the Amazon freebies - you can't download them from their foreign sites so you'll need to look at the UK/Chinese address to see if they're still free. Fortunately the item codes seem to be the same so I just usually change the .com to .co.uk and it takes me straight to the same item. Hope that makes sense

May I recommend "The Matchmaker of Perigord" by Julia Stuart. If like me, you enjoy good old fashion Humour then this a good read.

Of course I may be biased, this is my part of the world.

Whatever you do don't buy a Kobe reader(or in my case get given one,) they're crap and the books cost the same as real books.

......................FOR SALE: Kobe Reader, hardly used.. Great bit of kit..........

Thanks everyone!

I'm going to have a look into the newspapers thing.

I've got an lcd screen ebook reader now, so I can read that in the dark :)

I'm not sure how the ordering from amazon works here yet - Last time I tried to download books to my phone it worked for a while...

Always check the Kindle Deal of the Day book when you remember.. I've found a couple of books I wanted have cropped up for 99p.
