What are we all having for dinner?

You all seem to be such proficient chefs. Well here is a place to share some of that cooking knowledge. Or do you have a cooking problem? Ask away. Jams and chutneys go here too.

Quite inventive last night.... butternut squash roasted with almonds, 'creamed' garlic mushrooms, saffron brown rice with chives, a red cabbage/onion/sesame seed salad, some al dente courgette and tomato relish, all organic, some of the stuff grown here.

Absolutely delicious! We should write a book.

Skate wings stuffed with Anchovies and Rosemarry, cooked in a Tomato and Lemon with Corriander sauce, served with Chabatta bread with olive oil and garlic and herbs.

Hmm, not sure I am looking forward to this.

No I won't use a smiley because I've decided to turn into Boboff, as he's turned all nice all of a sudden. Grumble grumble.

Um, skate wings..... Fail, 2 out of the 4 portions were off, and the taste of stale urine was not appreciated by OH & number 1 son. Fortunately mine and daughters were fine, but having misgivings I did make sure we had lots of rhubarb crumble, and shop bought cream doughnuts for pudding!

Boboff - were the skate wings frozen? They are funny fish - freezing and/or time causes in increase in the amonia smell. They really need to be eaten as fresh as possible - even a short amount of time can make a huge difference :(

Well for tonights delectation we have a roast beef dinner. We were supposed to have it yesterday but we ended up with guests and had enchilladas instead. Now I have to rejig the weeks menu!

Yeah they had yellow stickers on and I froze them, then put off having them for 3 or 4 days. Daft.

Tonight we have a retro "when dad lost his boat and we had no money, 101 recipes for mince favorite" Sweet and Sour meat balls with Rice.

Oh and I am cleaning out the oven!

Made some Chow Mein noodles with stir-fried Chinese cabbage and my usual O.D. of garlic.

We finally got round to subscribing for a veggiebag at our local health food shop. :cooldude:
So far we like the challenge of cooking with veggies we wouldn't have picked up otherwise.
And having a week supply of food is highly convenient and allows for some planning ahead.
