For Britain - reverse : In winter, keep your blinds closed, to keep the heat in (it's dark all day anyway!); in summer, keep them open, to make the most of the sunlight (it'll never get too hot).

Hi all - does anyone have any objections to me pulling a top ten list together from this thread and reading it out on the radio? I have a little green show on my local hospital radio at Taunton.

Sustainable english charcoal... I read a fascinating article about this recently and was all fired up to get some (pardon the pun) but then found it's only sold at a few outlets down south - although I do seem to recall seeing some up here about 6 years ago (was I dreaming?)

We are going camping this weekend on holiday (as opposed to going abroad) and are taking some of our veg with us to cook on the BBQ...

With regards to "toileting" on the compost heap - we do this anyway! It saves trekking inside and taking boots off etc to go to the loo....

1) by using the little cups you get with water machines as containers for planting seeds
2) recycling toner/ink cartridges
3) duplex printing (lots of people DON'T do this)

make your own charcoal by visitng the local forest and asking for coppice offcuts.

If you can't pee outside in the compost, pee in the shower. If you have to use the toilet, use a clean, old cut up t-shirt instead of toilet paper. Throw in laundry after use.

Change the colors.
Deselect "Allow websites to choose colors themselves.

While this looks a little more drab than other colors, you'll save watt after watt of power.
