You know you are getting older when....

101 Uses For is popular and let's hope it stays that way. Our second book is presently called 101 tips for self sufficiency; we will certainly dip into this section for ideas. So post away and let's try and get at least one thread up to 101.

1. You start to look at topics called "You know you are getting older when...."
2. Radio 1 is a bit too much and you don't like most of the music on it anyway.
3. The first thing you need in the morning is a wee.

11 You start to insist on giving shop assistants the right change.
12 Hair starts to grow in places that it didn't before and not in places that it did
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

13. ...you are firmly of the opinion that no one else in this thread has any right to comment about what it's like to be getting older.

From the look of things, I am old, and have always been old!

14: You have a range of slippers.
15: Pickled onions and gherkins cause 'discomfort' after eating them.
16: You have discussions regarding the price of turnips twenty years ago.
17: You avoid eating nuts or anything else that might break teeth or stick uncomfortably in your dentures.
18: You purchase and wear a transparent, fold-away rain hat.
19: You purchase and use a 'shopper'.
20: You decide that when you next decorate your house you will have floral print wallpaper with matching upholstery.
21: You continually forget where you left your glasses.
22: You purchase a necklace thingy to hang your glasses from.
23: You forget that you have purchased a glasses necklace thingy and are still unable to find your glasses.
24: Bingo starts to look appealing.
25: You are appalled at how teenagers speak, dress, behave etc.
Not all those who wander are lost...

26 You walk across the room and then have to walk back again to remember why you did it in the first place.

27 You use the immortal phrase "In my day"

28 it bothers you when people don't use correct grammar.....

29 you remember a funny thing that happened and then realise you can count how long ago it was in decades.

30 no one even thinks to ask for your ID when you are buying alcohol

31 the music they put in films is always far too loud

32 You are really pleased with the slippers you got for a Christmas present (dang that happened to me)

33 you buy your loved one 'microwavable slippers' for a Christmas present (dang I did that... but hey its cheaper than putting the CH on)

34 you have chamomile tea as a nightcap
35 you worrry about roughage
36 bank managers appear to be 12 years of age (as do policemen)
37 the thought of dancing all night elicits a groan....
38 at a wedding, you fancy the bride's mother rather than the bride (the time to really worry is when you fancy her granny)

I now know I'm getting old. My friend just sent me a picture of some hunks wearning not much for valentines day and I replied with the exciting news that I'd finished knitting a scarf. Where do I get those slippers?
