101 uses for a toilet tube insert

101 Uses For is popular and let's hope it stays that way. Our second book is presently called 101 tips for self sufficiency; we will certainly dip into this section for ideas. So post away and let's try and get at least one thread up to 101.

glue string round it (with kid-safe glue), leave a tail hanging. I tie the string through a hole on one sode at the bottom, and then again at the top. Makes a strange, but popular cat toy!

(the other teachers have bought a cat and don't entertain it...it likes coming to my apartment when they have the cleaners in.,,i wonder why?!)

no idea what number we are on ha!

my old toilet roll cardboard inserts are saved through out the spring and summer,

then in the winter I cut my willow whips,

dry them for a week to get the rain off,

then cut the willow to around 7 inches and stuff as many as I can in to the rolls,

leave them to dry over the next few months,

then you have perfect kindling to get my log burner going!

These days, mine tend to go on the compost... But maybe I'll use them for broad beans again, they were very useful for that.

Roll up a news paper or two and slip the toilet roll inner over the roll to keep it together

Soak the roll in old chip oil for fire log

I fill mine with sawdust after my son has been using his chainsaw. They make a lovely blaze.

How do you get the sawdust to stay in the tube, pbf? I tried it once, but just made a mess.

I use the tubes for keeping various computer-related bits of wire tidy. I can never find the one I want, but it is a little easier if the two ends are sticking out of a tube - at least you can tell which pair of ends are connected together!

Czech, I make four little cuts in the bottom and fold them in like on cardboard boxes and on the top I pinch it flat and fold one side over the other. Seems to stay together.
