despite having recently decided to give up my lady nicotine, I have used a long succession of Altoids tins as the perfect fag tin......usually lasting until the little lugs on the tin finally break off.....

8. For playing Peaver with.
Can't find an explanation of what Peaver is on the web - It is a Scottish/Glasgow version of hop-scotch. You place a stone (or Peaver - a flat heavy stone or shoe polish tin weighed down with gravel) on the first box, and hop over it... then you progress up the numbers throwing or skidding your 'peaver' onto the appropriate number, and hopping over it.
Does that make any sense?
edit to add picture of peaver board
I also had to google Altoids - for anyone else it's an old style flat sweet tin

9. Readymade magazine had a contest on this and one person did mini-speakers. Here's the link to how they did it.

oh my god i so need those speakers.
yes, sorry about the sltoid mix-up, I'm a uge fan of these little sweets. it is not legal for them to sell cinnamon or wintergreen ones here due to eu restrictions on colours and flavourings; yet they are made in Wales. I even offered to go to the Kraft factory and slip someone a fiver to let me have some but got a flat "no way" in an email reply; so I cajoled my email buddy into sending me a couple of tins... she sent me 2 wholesale BOXES of each flavour in return for a couple of kid's dvds. This was 5 years ago. I'm down to my last 3 tins of wintergreen and last ONE of cinnamon.... but I still have the boxes!!!
Recently I found a tin of ginger flavour on sale at a shop called Cybercandy just off covent garden. I'm currently munching my way through those.
so, ginger and strong mint are aparently the only flavours which can legally be sold here.
