Can you send a get well card please?

Can you send a get well card please?

Post: # 127130Post chadspad »

This article is about my cousins little boy. Poor Joshua is only 6 and seriously ill. Their hope is that by receiving lots of get well cards it will give him the strength to continue to fight for life. Here is the article that is in their local newspaper:

Your chance to help brave Joshua (6)

By sue irving
A family are hoping 'Get Well' cards sent to their seriously ill six-year-old son will give him the strength to carry on.
Joshua Hinchliffe, who lives in Norfolk, is battling a brave fight against cancer which has returned with a vengeance.

A routine scan and X-ray on September 16 showed the cancer had returned and is in Joshua's pelvis, liver, abdomen and abdominal cavity. The main tumour is in his pelvis and is the size of a melon.

His family have said Joshua knows the cancer is back and that he will be having more chemotherapy but they are keeping from him the seriousness of the situation.

Joshua lives with his mum Janette, dad Peter and three-year-old brother Ben in Southery.

His sister, 23 year-old Zoe Jones, lives in March and he also has a 21 year-old brother Ryan.

Zoe explained the main thing the family want is for people to send him 'Get Well' cards but if anyone wants to send a donation that would be welcome.

Last time Joshua was ill Zoe said he commented that he hadn't got many cards and this time the family want to make sure he gets lots.

They are appealing to Citizen readers to fill his bedroom with good wishes to spur him on.

Joshua is currently in Addenbrooke's Hospital at Cambridge undergoing chemotherapy. He was diagnosed with Whilms tumour in March 2007 and had been in remission since December 11 of last year.

Said his mum: "Joshua commented last time that he did not get many cards. So please would you all be so kind as to post him a 'Get Well' card. I really want him to know how much we all love and are thinking of him and if we can fill his bedroom with cards he will see it every night and help give him the strength to carry on."

Cards should be sent to: Joshua Hinchliffe, c/o The Fenland Citizen, at 11 Union Street, Wisbech, or Market Place, March, or drop them into our offices, and we will forward them to Joshua.

March couple Vernon and Marian Sutton have contacted the Make-a-Wish organisation telling them all about Joshua.

Vernon and Marian's son Stuart died in 2003 when he was 15 and they know what a difference Make-a-Wish can make. Stuart had the very rare Fanconi's Anaemia and enjoyed a trip-of-a-lifetime to Florida.

Zoe said Joshua wants to go to the seaside and also to see Santa and his elves.

The poor wee lad - that must be so hard for him and his family to deal with. I'll get J to make one for him and send it.

Card sent - and some good thoughts.
Two roads diverged in a wood
And I took the one less travelled by
And that has made all the difference.
