I was listening to the bbc news today and the government are pushing a new law about rioting and crime, that if people on benifits are caught commiting a crime they will lose up to half of thier benifits  , wich in doing so would turn the individual to turn to crime to make up thier money  , are the polititians really that dense  i am amazed they can't see the real picture with this country, i infuriates me as i love my country but the fools that run it are turning in to a melting pot of crime and lawlessness, no wonder so many people are immigrating :banghead:
well thats my rant of the week so lets hope common sense prevails :flower:

You wont like this Russ  .........But I think it might make people think twice about getting involved in rioting

If they resort to crime then lock them up.............I for one am fed up with our so called justice system which is soft on crime and soft on the causes of crime

I have little time for the professional excuse merchants who like to blame their up bringing for their crimes

So cut the benefits for criminals and immediately the families and children will suffer. I'm afraid that in the heat of the moment the last thing that will come to the minds of said criminals will be the consequences. In the bad old days of capital punishment there were still as many murders as there are now (in proportion to the population)

I doubt if the PM ever 'found' it - they live in a different world - a world full of people who are like them, and people who do things for them. with no clue how the rest of the country copes with life. I'm pretty certain that in threatening to halve benfits/allowances, basics like rent are not taken into account.

otoh I hear that the majority of those caught stealing/damaging were children - so I'm guessing that their benefits are 'child benefit' which is paid to parents

true in part Dave but most people who riot and commit crime don't have any scruples anyway :flower:

Yes again you are correct, but how do we stop these morons from ruining society for decent law abiding citizens,
Perhaps we should form our own village away from society, the Amish have been doing it for years, i know they are religous but thier community works :flower:

to be honest this is a case yet again of demonising those who exist on benifits.

the fact is that taking more money away fromt those who have very little after they comit a crime is simply going create a vicsiouse circle where people are going to be forced to steal for food. thats why the limit is set where it is.

i am on benifits due ot medical reasons, i dont forage for food for the fun of it, i do it for necessity. im lucky that i do enjoy it and that it helps me with some of my ailments. if i didnt take as much food from the wild as i do i wouldnt be able to eat. garnish my income by £25 a week and im starving.

what this country needs is Hope.

hope that there will be gainful and perminant employment which pays a decent wage
hope that kids can get a decent education without being forced to take on massive debts
hope that the government dont kick of yet another round of oil wars
hope that qactualy we get a democratic system which actualy listens to the electorate and not lobby groups

but that is in short supply.

Eh?.............How did you get to that position :dontknow: ...........So long as people don't start using riots as an excuse to go on a thieving spree their benefits wont be touched

For genuine cases like yourself i can only agree. For the bloke who was on the tv the other night on £490 a week while perfectly well but complaining that he isnt getting enough i disagree. He earns more than me and i work MANY hours, night and day. The labour government made a mockery of the working man and while i agree there are many who cant work, the ones who can but refuse to (and there are many) should not be on more than any worker.

It's all crime and not just rioting that will see the benefits being lost.
Also it not mandatory it is up to the judge, also it is only when they don't pay the fines in the first place that the £25 CAN be deducted from benefit after a court order from a judge.
As for those scoudrel type people who are the scurge of society, I.E. the benefit recipients [ of which I'm one] who were rioting in the summer only made up 1/3rd of the people prosecuted. The other 2/3rds were gainfully employed.

How to deal with people who are happy to profit from the generousity of society and are equally happy to pillage it?

I suppose the Armish and similar communities work because all members agree to abide by the moral code of that community or leave. The larger a community, the more difficult it is for common moral ground to be found.

I find the idea of handing out cash to those who would cheerfully steal from me a bitter pill, but the alternative - leaving the buggers to starve on a island somewhere - although superficially quite appealing, wouldn't really be acceptable either.

Ah! - rich and low-cal varieties of Soylent Green.

Uh - I'm not sure about that, Dunc. I mean, Pippa Middleton's rump might be alright, but a casserole of Phillip Green or Rupert Murdoch could be pretty foul.

But you make a fair point: it's us, the silly, mostly law-abiding, buggers in the middle, who are supporting wasters of every hue.

Can any one in this country live on £70 minus £25 a week in this country?

No and it's disgraceful for any government to think they can. While the rich govern the poor common sense will never prevail.
