Hadn't heard of it before - I gather it's to raise awareness of men's health and wellbeing, something many men avoid.

Not just physical but mental health. The article mentions men's suicide rates so I looked it up;- gov. figures for 2010 suicide rates were highest in those aged 45–74 at 17.7 per 100,000 for men and 6.0 per 100,000 for women. I had no idea so many more men committed suicide.

Probably just another attempt at growth by the greetings card industry.

I've known a couple of men who have extended their illnesses (in one case almost fatally so) because they had been continually ribbed by their partners about man flu and have put off going to see the quack, so perhaps there is a need to raise awareness.

.
I'm not going to knock that industry as the other half buys pallet loads and resells them at a profit but here's a little story.
On one valetines day my wife showed me a box in the garage and said that if I wanted to give her a card then I should have one out of this box . Reason being was that those ones didn't have an envolope or were otherwise a lot less saleable
