What can we watch which is funny and topical?

I hardly watch television - only ‘Have I got news for you’, on Channel 1, together with my husband. When that finished, we took to watching ‘The last leg’ on Channel 4 - another excellent topical comic programme which apparently had been going on for years without our knowing.
Now that is finished too. We tried ‘Mock the week’ but found that very disappointing. Is there anything else we can watch weekly which is comic and preferably topical? It has to be on Freeview.
Thanks!

Sorry - can't help - I've never had TV. I watch the cats outside my window, or the birds... Often funny, always topical!

You're right - which is why I watch so rarely!

I don't know about topical, but one of my favourite programmes back on at the moment is Friday night dinner on channel four which we think is really funny

I think we watched that a few years ago. Might try again, thanks!

TBH we watch the same as you, and there's not much else worth watching.

Not quite topical but good for a laugh and a bit of a mental workout is "8 out of 10 cats do countdown" . And not comedy but I am enjoying Brian Cox's "Wonders of the Universe" programmes on BBC1 at the moment a nice gentle wander through scientific principles in the world around us.
