Vaio/Ubuntu?

Tomorrow's World was a show on BBC TV about innovations and tech stuff and I thought a good name for our computing and tech section.

Vaio/Ubuntu?

Post: # 131142Post Brij »

My laptop has a few problems that are driving me mad (tis old now!) so I'm going to replace it.

I'm thinking of a VGN-NS11J/S sony vaio (as seen in John Lewis)

I'll probably keep vista and never use it (well, maybe to play Sims 2...) and partition/wubi the drive to get a dual boot with ubuntu... but is the laptop fully compatible with that way of doing things?

I'm especially concerned about the graphics card and/or sound card - what do you clever folks think?

Brij did you ever take the Ubuntu plunge? I had an old Vaio but could never get the wireless card to work under Ubuntu.

Still tempted though as my fit-pc thread suggests!

I'm using it right now, actually. No problems with the wireless card, though the sound took some tweaking. Few hot-key issues and haven't tackled the integrated webcam or microphone, but I'm extremely unlikely to ever use it anyway!
