Sype compatable mobile phones

Tomorrow's World was a show on BBC TV about innovations and tech stuff and I thought a good name for our computing and tech section.

Sype compatable mobile phones

Post: # 50393Post Andy Hamilton »

Are there 3G mobile phones out there that also run skype? I am guessing that if you can run windows on your phone then you should be able to run skype too. Meaning that you could make calls when in a wifi zone. My present mobile is on the way out it is third hand and the flywheel is about to go. So perhaps time to buy a new mobile for the first time in 8 years!

Some phones that can use wifi can use 'fring' which is a sort of go-between for skype and similar.
If your phone is set up to use the internet it will work also. The receiving phone must be able to receive skype(I assume via the use of fring) or it can be used to ring pc's running skype.
Skype is also available for linux.

I've got it set up on my new phone on the offchance that I can find a good free wireless hotspot somewhere in town.
