This Hardy hibiscus bush is a perennial and is cut to the ground each Fall, and grows to this large size rather quickly each year. The flowers only last one day, but there are always new ones daily. I put a wheelbarrow of compost on the stubs of the cut stalks in the Fall and periodically add a five gallon pail of water if the Summer is dry, and the plant responds with a blaze of red blooms.
