It's Christmas!

Post: # 288470Post Odsox »

It must be Christmas, my Christmas Cactus says so.

... and while I had the camera out I took a photo of my cyclamen (the ones that are supposed to be fragrant, but aren't)
Sowed seed back in January, they have been flowering their hearts out for over 3 months now. I saved some seed from the dark red one and bearing in mind that cyclamen are perennials, I may well be overwhelmed next year.

You have a lovely pink house at the moment. I don't think I've ever seen such a lot of flowers on a Christmas cactus before.

Ooh Clematis from seed? Amazing! Are they difficult?

Umm, they're Cyclamen Bonnie.
Not really difficult but they are a bit iffy to germinate. I've never germinated my own saved seed (yet), but bought seed, which of course may not be particularly fresh, is about 50% germination rate.
I chitted mine on a damp paper towel in the airing cupboard and potted up when I saw a tiny shoot developing. Then grew on in a heated propagator as it was January.

OK, Christmas must be over as it now appears to be spring.
It's not a particularly good photo, but in amongst those wallflower plants are some Paperwhite daffodils coming into flower.

I just got my sweet peas out... They still had some flowers on them, despite the frost!

We just spent a week on the East coast, ina (much further North than you - about 80 miles SW of us). There were all sorts of flowers still in full bloom to our amazement.
