Weaving

Post: # 117808Post barefootlinzi »

I have wanted to post on this forum for ages and show off a completed project, but I haven't finished a project in ages! But that has changed........

Firstly, I have made a lavendar wand (actually more than one but have given the others away)

On Friday I went on a basket making course and came home with this;

I am very proud of this, my first ever basket!

Here is Ollie modelling the basket (he was smiling just before i took the picture, honest!)

wow. i'm really impressed - the basket looks so professional - was it very difficult to do? the wand is very pretty as well.

The basket is lovely. I'm also very interested in the lavender wand. What does it do exactly? Does it have lavender inside?
Growing old is much better then the alternative!

it took from 10-5 to make it (plus lots of chatting and a gorgeous lunch in the village tearoom) and it was more complicated than i thought....the teacher took me through it stage by stage and i couldnt make another one on my own now. it has really made me appreciate the skill and time that goes into each basket. but it is quite addictive and i am making plans to attend a willow sculpture workshop in september. the lavender wand is a nice and simple way to decorate lavender. it is only a way to preserve it and its scent, the lavender flowers are all folded inside. google lavender wands to instructions.

i definatly think a course is the best way to learn, i have a book and it made no sense at all to me until i did the course. and if you go wrong there is someone there to help you fix it!
