Complacent, self congratulatory, smug grin!

Post: # 161504Post jim »

Don't want to boast, but I'm wearing an annoyingly smug smile at the moment. I've spent part of the weekend rebuilding the wood shelter and today filling it with scrap wood for the burner. For dinner last night, roast pork was the only part of the meal we didn't provide ourselves. The roast spuds and courgettes, the spinach and turnips were all our own. The rhubarb cake for dessert came from our own garden. Tonight, it's courgette and french bean stir-fry, that's right, we grew the onions, garlic, chilli, courgettes and frenchies ourselves!

Looking round the raised beds full of produce, the ripening apples and pears, the wood stack, gives me that complacent feeling that, yes, we might make it through the winter!

(Just looked in the mirror, the conceited, self-satisfied, grin is still there.)

Love and Peace
Jim

Humph! I'm really envious! So far we've only managed lettuce! A big pat on the back to you and you deserve to feel smug!

And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free

It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

We mostly only have lettuce too, but I am still insufferably smug when I put it on the table

Well done!

Eh 'up! Nothing wrong with being smug. Last evenings meal consisted of pork chops (from our villiage butchers..... & they threw in a couple of kidneys), the first runners of the season, & fresh-dug spuds. It's a great feeling to eat home-grown produce. :salute:
it's either one or the other, or neither of the two.

Well done and smug grins are allowed after you've (we've) all worked hard getting this stuff to produce!

We have (well OK, mostly OH!) shifted 4 cordes of chestnut that were delivered on Thurs and Fri and were just chucked on the gravel driveway. If I did that every day I would have arm muscles like Popeye! But we have wood to keep us warm this winter (currently have 7 cordes stacked  ) and more veg than we know what to do with, even my tomatoes are starting to turn colour now.
