Whilst hubby was in Dublin this week.......
I made this!!
I got a new incubator for 50-odd eggs... so raising the chicks in the back room is no longer an option, I mean, chicks are lovely, but not in the house!
So, I talked to hubby & told him that I needed something in the chook house for the new chicks & it needed a heat light above......
Then I got to thinking that I also needed a couple of broody boxes for any of the chooks that feel the need later in the year.... I made one last year & it works very well, but takes up quite a lot of room & is now in our hayshed - ready to be used as a quarantine/solitary/broody box & small run.....
Next thing was the fact that I have increased our stock & therefore more nest boxes were needed... lawd above, I'd need a HUGE chick house to get all that lot in there!!
So, I pondered for a few days, bought a couple of sheets of heavy ply & realised that everything else was laying around in the derelict & various toolboxes.....
And made this...... and I am VERY proud of myself too!! Even hubby was impressed - and not once has he said 'you should maybe have done it this way'.....

That's amazing - you don't fancy visiting me do you - I'm nearly homicidal over OH's DIY skills.

That's really fantastic Julie. I'd love to have the room for chicks, I think it might be sniper rifles at dawn from the flats opposite though.

Well, spurred on by the fact that it actually works... all pieces fit & that I didn't mess up using the jigsaw, etc..... I have now sat & doodled plans for a cat house to go in the kitty's favourite tree.... then plans for a chook house for Gail & Leah so that the little one can (finally) have her silkie then acustom built dog bed/platform thingy.... and after that I shall crack on with some rabbit hutches - see, now I know I 'can', I will!!
Hubby has about another 8 weeks of overtime, so I figured that if I didn't do it myself, it just wouldn't get done. By the time summer gets here, there won't be anything for him to do - I'd best get thinking about the next set of projects.....
