I can't believe this weather!!!

Post: # 176919Post Green Aura »

We are currently sitting, 58 degrees north, with no heating on and the windows wide open.

And no I'm not having hot flushes

It's the middle of November - shouldn't we have had this last month (an old neighbour of mine used to call it St Luke's little summer, but I have no idea what she meant)?

Yep, same here - although no open windows - it'll take too long to warm up again later!!

Mind you Maggie, I'm investing in a snorkel for when I'm out in the garden....

We shut the windows ten minutes ago and it still wasn't particularly cold. We've just started lighting the boiler though, because when the sun goes down as it did a 16:01 the temperature plummets and we'll be chilly mortals this evening.

Sorry folks but it has been absolutely glorious - I've weeded, rid the garden entirely of radishes  , planted aquadulce broad beans (at completely the wrong moon phase  - outdoors and in the polytunnel, and had a bit of a tidy up in the polytunnel all in a short sleeved t-shirt and thin jumper. Oh and trousers

It was 17.5C here today but windy so didn't feel quite as warm as that. The tree guy came (with his wife!!!) to fell our dead trees in the orchard, in the wind. It's just so French but I have to admit he is the first workman I've ever seen with ANY protective gear whatsoever apart from a tiler with knee pads.

Have just lit the fire cos we need to keep the house warm as it cools down pretty darn quick.

Really happy with all the rain cos our stream is now flowing again and filling up our pond, which was down about 4 feet. Been playing mud pies and diverting the water course just like we used to do with streams on beaches when we were kids! The ducks thought I was mad.

It's been wet and cold here for days, but this morning it was lovely sunshine - so I stood outside reading my book while I waited for my lift to work! I'm guessing that the sunshine won't last that long - OH is feeling grotty so that means the weather will be too. I guess RA makes him a good barometer - well it has to be useful for something! lol!

It's been pretty warm here and we had the most spectacular sunset this afternoon! It was beautiful cerise pink.

Seems to have gotten misty and drizzly out there now.

Same for us. We're at N43.30 and it's been a balmy 20C over the last couple of days. That said, we had our first frost in October so everything is a bit backwards this year. The calendula are still flowering heavily & thus making their way into our salads still, the borage has finally finished and gone into compost. Everything else looks very autumnal, spectacular leaf colours everywhere - it's becoming my favourite time of year.
