She hasn't picked up the message I sent her in September last year! At the time she was very busy juggling a lot of different jobs so she said she didn't really have the time for posting here, but I didn't expect her to stay away so long.

Ina was the first person to help me on this site with her bottling tips, I also had wondered where she was. pbf.

She's fine - I emailed her the other day and had a reply. I'll let her know that people are asking after her.

Ooops - nice to know that people still remember me... Shirley's let me know you are asking about me!

Sorry I've not been on for so long! I've had a rather difficult two years; sometimes no job(s), at first no house, sometimes three jobs at once, all casual, no security, low income - you get the picture.

Yes, I'm sort of fine. Still no proper job. One long-term casual job came to an end in August; did a bit of farm sitting after that. Just now I'm doing two days per week casual work (yet again), on farm chicken processing (they don't know yet that I'm a vegetarian!). Not a dream job, but it pays the rent, just about. Unfortunately it's a long way from where I live (just over 70 miles one way), but fortunately I can stay the night in between the two working days in a caravan. This weekend I'm cat sitting for an ex-colleague/friend; doesn't bring in a lot of money, but it's almost like a holiday (they say a change is as good as a rest). My own cat is quite used to being left on her own for several days.

Most of my spare time is spent online, trying to find a job. The problem is, there are a lot of jobs I could do, but I'm considered wrongly or over qualified. Or too old and too fat - although of course, nobody'd dare say that! But I also know that for my own peace of mind, I really need a job I'll be happy with in the long run; I've always been one of those sad people who live for their job, but it's got to be the right one. Which is why I've changed jobs so often in my life.

Enough blether! I promise I'll come back on -ish more often in the future.

Nice to hear from you, Ina. You very kindly sent me copies of your Fair Isle book soon after I joined. It was much appreciated.

I must admit to having turned into what my Dad (an avid radio ham) called "rare DX" on this site, ie I rarely join in and post. I do read the posts though and hopefully we will be settled eventually so that I can set about a garden and feel I have stuff to contribute. At the moment we are back in France (near Cahors this time) while we wait for our cat to get his full passport. Roll on November 7th when we can go "home" though!
Growing old is much better then the alternative!
