Jumble sales
Does anyone go to jumblies? I used to go when my children were small, by necessity! but haven't been to one for years. Having started making rag rugs from cotton shirts and having run out of material I wondered about a jumble sale. What do they charge these days? Is it worth it? Would like to know please! pbf.

What about talking nicely to your local charity shops? They often get donations that are 'rag only' quality & so long as you can collect & make a small cash donation, they are only to pleased to let you have such stuff in my experience. The 'rag man' pays something like £2 per black sackfull, so I pay 25p per shirt, (I patchwork mine so the odd scortch mark is irrelivant.)
BTW: we'll want piccies when your rug is finished, y'know!

Dear PBF,
Jumblies? Haven't seen one advertised for years. People seem to carboot and charity shop rather then give stuff to jumblies these days. Most of our reading matter and kids clothes came from jumble sales in the dim and distant. Can't think of the last time I saw one,

They have table top sales round these parts. I've not been to one but I'm guessing they're the same as jumble sales. No idea what sort of money they charge for items but you often have to pay to get in!

Ahhhh used to love jumble sales! 
Old lady jackets with huge buttons, old men flasher macs, old winklepickers, all for pennies*, those were the days. Goes off in a cloud of nostalgia.

Jumblies are alive and well in this part of Sussex! Went to my first yesterday in the next village. A donation to get in, 50p, and 4 shirts for 80p! Very pleased! It was in aid of the village school and was absolutely packed. I shall go again! Will definitely ask in the charity shops, but have to travel about ten miles to the nearest one, so will have to wait until I need other things. Sorry, piccies are beyond me!!
